Budget Cuts Anecdotes

#GilbertSchools Budget Cuts Anecdotes: No sleep for the weary – Principals pay the price for no security #gpsanecdotes

From a Gilbert Public Schools employee.

Now that the district has dismissed the night security, when a door alarm goes off—or worse—and Gilbert Police respond, they have the private phone numbers of each principal in the district. Our principals will be responding to that 3am problem.
More work piling on the backs of each employee.

  1. I left the district, due in part to nothing but the drama and sad, sorry state things would be in without an override going on the ballot in November…. and being tired of feeling taken for granted, with my pay being frozen for yet ANOTHER (7th!) year in a row…. so, over the summer, as I was in my classroom late one night, packing up and moving-out 11 years worth of stuff (90% of what was in that room, I bought with my own money, equaling to 7 trips with two vehicles), someone in a GPS vehicle came along and came to my open exterior classroom door. She told me there was a child with a dog on the back playground and would I call my principal and let him know! No joke! Now, my principal was on vacation out-of-state, but I texted him as I had been asked to do. I will only say that his response was priceless and reflected the fact that he was completely incapable of doing anything about it. But, the real thing is, that man is already at that school 80+ hours per week, easily…. and now he’s supposed to take calls at all hours of the night and weekends, drop everything and drive over to chase a child and his dog from the playground??? Un-frickin-believable, right…?!?!?!
