Gilbert Public Schools Election 2014 Already Begun?

There is a video that is being circulated around social media which “shames” Jill Humpherys for her NO vote on March 11, 2014 Special Meeting of the Gilbert Public Schools’ Governing Board wherein the board voted to approve formal letter requesting an investigation from the Gilbert Police Department. That meeting has been covered under this AZCentral Article: Gilbert School Board wants a police investigation.

Such video was posted in our Facebook site and on this site almost immediately as soon as we publicized our existence, therefore it behooved us to address it accordingly.

See below to watch the video:

UPDATE: It looks like the perpetrators of this video have decided that this is driving too much negativity and thus finally decided to remove the video and focus on something a little bit more positive.

It is a “well-made” (not really) video to deliver a specific spin to support the arguments presented by the folks who disseminates this video. But unless you are a fan of attack ads, it does not truly add any value to folks who would really like to know what is going on in Gilbert Public Schools. For folks who have attended meetings such as this one know that board members offer their rationale for their vote. This video does not provide the rationale for Ms. Humpherys’ “No” vote.

At the end of the video you will also find out that the owners of this video is a group campaigning to unseat Ms. Humpherys. In other words, this video has no other intent, but to be a good old fashioned attack ad and does not provide value to anyone who really cares about what is happening with the district.

The meeting was not prescheduled and as such was not LiveStreamed and there is no official archive of the video. Fortunately, a community member and local blogger, Blake Sacha has recorded the meeting and posted its unadulterated version in his blog. Discussion on this motion starts at 4:50 of the video.

CLICK HERE TO WATCH FULL VIDEO OF THE MEETING AND KNOW THE FACTS: It is 28 Minutes Long. Discussion starts at 4:50. The discussion lasts for about 22 minutes or so. From this video you will see the full-context of Ms. Humpherys as to why she opposed the motion. Notably:

  • The motion is not really necessary since there is already an ongoing investigation and there is really no need to notify the police department. Thereby the motion is in her words “superfluous.”
  • The motion is being pushed in a special session and without having all board members present.

So on the statement that states:

  • Ms. Humpherys voted No on the motion: FACT.
  • Ms. Humpherys obstructed justice: FICTION.
